In the Pediatric Surgery Department of IMS BHU, doctors have performed surgery on a one year old child and removed the tumor. Pediatric Surgeon Prof. Under the leadership of SP Sharma, a team of other child surgeons, pediatricians and anesthetists performed a two-hour long surgery using binoculars on December 13 and removed a large tumor of 10.9 cm. The tumor was adjacent to the heart and the left lung had collapsed.

This complex operation was performed at the Pediatric Surgery OT of BHU. The child was referred to a higher center from Prayagraj for surgery. Pro. Sarita Chaudhary told that it is rare for a tumor to occur in a one year old child. After the operation, the child was on ventilator for three hours. He was diagnosed with a rare mediastinal tumor through video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery.

The surgical team was led by Prof. SP Sharma did it. Prof. Sarita Chaudhary, Dr. Kanika Sharma (Associate Professor), Dr. Ajit, Dr. Bhanumurthy were included in it. Also the anesthetic team was led by Professor RB Singh, Dr. Amrita (Associate Professor), Dr. Stephi and Dr. Babli.
